CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS
January 14, 2025
ABOUT ARCHITECTS OF DIVERSITY
AOD (Persatuan Pendidikan Diversiti) is a non-profit organisation that aims to create a peaceful, equitable and inclusive Malaysia by promoting ideas and values for diversity, building empowered leaders and communities, and equipping them with the tools and resources to influence and enact systemic change. Since beginning in 2018 as a secondary school programme to full-time operations in 2020, AOD is now one of the leading civil society organisations in Malaysia working at the intersection of youth, social cohesion and democracy. We are youth-led and have 11 staff members led by the Executive Director.
With a focus on race and religion, AOD implements a wide range of activities in various domains, including conducting youth programmes, incubation of youth social justice organisations, policy research and parliamentary advocacy, corporate engagements and civil society development, particularly in areas of anti-discrimination, diversity & inclusion and social cohesion. In the near future, AOD seeks to expand into other activities such as revenue generation, intermediary operations and philanthropic advisory.
ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
As an organisation incorporated under the Registrar of Societies, the Executive Committee (EXCO) is the main governing body of AOD equivalent to the Board of Trustees in other non-profit organisations. The EXCO is collectively responsible for the proper stewardship of the organisation and the creation of long-term success. The EXCO performs a variety of functions across ethical culture, strategy, performance, fiduciary oversight and risk management. EXCO positions are unpaid.
ABOUT THE CALL
Since incorporated in 2021, the EXCO has been membered by individuals closely associated with the organisation at its inception. At this moment, AOD's rapid growth and a desire to institutionalise sustainability and continuity require a group of high-calibre and committed EXCO members. As part of a broader series of governance reform actions, AOD is calling for expressions of interest from interested individuals to ultimately be nominated and elected into 4-5 vacant EXCO positions, including the offices of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. At present, the Governance Committee is still finalising by-laws that will set term limits and durations.
