On February 5, 2025, Architects of Diversity (AOD) paid a courtesy call to the Minister of National Unity, YB Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, alongside members of the ministerial leadership at the Ministry’s headquarters in Putrajaya. The meeting provided an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue on the state of social cohesion in Malaysia and explore avenues for collaboration between civil society and the government.
The Ministry of National Unity holds the mandate to pioneer and drive efforts to strengthen integration, social harmony, and national unity through policy formulation, research, and grassroots initiatives. In line with this, AOD presented key insights into the challenges facing Malaysia’s social fabric, including growing ethno-religious polarisation, diminishing trust between communities, and the underinvestment in social cohesion efforts. We also highlighted the impact of our work over the past five years, including our efforts in youth advocacy, interfaith dialogue, and community bridge-building initiatives.
Moving forward, we look forward to exploring opportunities for deeper collaboration with the Ministry to scale and innovate approaches that foster meaningful connections between different racial and religious groups. Additionally, we hope to work together to strengthen the unity ecosystem by mobilising more capital, resources, and institutional support for initiatives that promote long-term social cohesion. Strengthening these partnerships is critical in ensuring a resilient, inclusive, and united Malaysia.
